Ways to Create Extra Income

Resell on Facebook Marketplace or eBay

Shop the thrift store to find great deals and resell on eBay to make a profit.

Have a garage or yard sale

You have tons of stuff in your home that collects dust or no longer needs or wants. Donating to places like the Goodwill and The Salvation Army is a charitable gesture, but you can create additional income by opening your garage or yard as your own retail space. Items in your household you can turn into cash:

  • Books

  • Gently used clothing

  • Shoes/sneakers

  • Jewelry

  • Furniture

  • Dishes

  • Wine glasses

  • Lamp

  • Picture frames

  • Vases

Sell your craft

Is there something you make that always receives praise from others? If so, you may have a small business on your hands. Turn your skills into a money-making machine. If you are a great baker, cook, event planner, or anything you can sell to someone else, you can sell it for a profit.

Become a mystery shopper

Many mystery shopping companies are looking for regular people to give feedback on various companies. Being a mystery shopper is not what most think. As a mystery shopper, you will act as a regular customer and ask questions assigned. You will be responsible for a short report of your interaction with the employees. Your job is to work naturally so you can give feedback based on a real scenario. Mystery shopping assignments can occur at apartments, airports, retail shops, car dealerships, wireless stores, consignment shops, and fast-food chains. Some companies may seek tough negotiators or people wanting to improve their vehicle negotiation skills. Mystery shopping companies can pay $8 to $100 per shop/location and reimburse expenses in their guidelines. There are scammers out there, so you must be diligent about your research. A legitimate mystery shopping company will be free to sign up.

Become a personal shopper

Personal shoppers were a big deal when it came to department store shopping. Personal shopping has evolved as grocery and essential everyday items have taken off. Many companies hire personal grocery shoppers if the individual has a car, bike, or scooter. Most companies require a minimum of 18 years and age and the ability to pass their background check. Depending on your city, you may even choose to walk. If you are in the area or going grocery shopping, why not earn some extra cash by picking up someone else’s groceries on your way. Being a personal shopper is one of the most flexible ways to create additional weekly income.
